Introduction
Our school is a comprehensive university. The Bachelor's program in the Department of Physical Education was one of the 15 departments established by our school in the 52nd year of the Republic of China and is under the College of Science. The department later split into two groups, "Physical Education" and "Dance," in the academic year 65. The Dance group later became an independent department and was transferred to the College of Arts in the academic year 71. In the academic year 72, the department added a "Chinese Martial Arts group," which later became an independent department in the academic year 86. Due to the flourishing development of sports, domestic related departments in sports and leisure tourism have rapidly grown. To enhance the distinctive features of our department, we began enrolling students into "Sports Health and Leisure Management" and "Sports Competition" groups starting from the academic year 93. In response to societal needs, the Sports Health and Leisure Management group was approved to establish the "Department of Sports and Health Promotion" and began enrolling students in the academic year 100.
Starting from the 111th academic year, the educational objectives will focus on three major areas: "Sports Competition," "Sports Science," and "Sports Instruction." The faculty structure of our department is comprehensive, aligning with the curriculum planning of various professional areas in both "academic" and "artistic" aspects, ensuring the quality of teaching by teachers and meeting the learning needs of students. In the future, we will promote a diverse counseling strategy, encourage students to develop their aptitudes, obtain relevant professional certifications, and become versatile young professionals in the sports industry.
The purpose of establishing this department is to cultivate outstanding sports and athletic talents with an international perspective, sound character, and professional abilities.
